  • BLOCKBUSTER: A SMASH HIT (FOR FILMS) BESTSELLER (for books)
  • REMAKE: Modern version of an old film.
  • SEQUEL (SECOND, THIRD PART...)
  • PREQUEL (PART PREVIOUS TO THE FIRST ONE)
  • TRILOGY: GROUP OF FILMS/BOOKS ON THE SAME IDEA
  • Film franchise.  (franquicia). Films including a set of characters, for example Marvel. 
  • STUNTS. Difficult scenes or actions in films (stuntman is the person who works doing them)
  • SETTING: place and time where and when the story is set. WE say: The story is set in...

MORE ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE FILMS AND BOOKS:


BASIC STEPS FOR YOUR PRESENTATION: 

  • Include all the essential information , BUT THE PRESENTATION SHOULD ONLY CONTAIN A FEW LINES.... NOT PARAGRAPHS!!
  • Use past for finished events. CLICK HERE to revise it. 
  • Use the past continuous to talk about the events happening at a certain moment in the past or to refer to the background of the story. CLICK HERE to revise it. 
  • Use conditionals: If you like........ don't miss this film. 
  • Use comparatives and superlatives
    • THis series is better than.... /more intriguing than....
    • The book is more gripping than the series... because....
    • The most boring/funny film ever (notice ever is an intensifier)
  • Include interesting headings to raise interest. 
  • Include specific vocabulary.
  • Ask questions and focus on your audience to raise interest! COMMUNICATE
  • Draw a short conclusion.
  • Use original vocabulary!! 

HOW TO PRESENT YOUR  FILM, SERIES OR BOOK REVIEW. 

  • INTRODUCTION: 
    • I'm going to talk about... because...
    • Do you know...? 
    • Have you ever heard of....?
    • Start with a quote or typical sentence (soundtrack can also work)  in the book/ series/film to raise interest and ask: Do you know where it belongs?
  • DESCRIPTION
    • Use linkers to express sequence of events: Then, after that, eventually.... 
    • One of the main events is....
    • Use linkers to add ideas: moreover, besides, together with this, in addition....
    • As a result of this/As a consequence (to describe consequences
    • Use specific vocabulary including:
      • Setting
      • Actors/characters (a brief description, you can focus on the ones you prefer and use SPECIFIC VOCABULARY): LEADING ROLES, SECONDARY CHARACTERS....
      • Soundtrack or OST (if it is important)
      • Plot (include a brief summaryof the main events including TWISTS, Flashbacks....whatever you find essential) . The script (guión) can be crucial here. 
      • ASK QUESTIONS TO YOUR AUDIENCE,  RAISE INTEREST!! BE CREATIVE!!
  • CONCLUSION
    • A CONCLUSION IS A MUST IN A PRESENTATION.  Here, you can add some criticism, your opinion, recommendations....
    • As a conclusion/Just to conclude... I'd like to say that...
    • In my opinion/from my personal point of view..
    • On the credit side, we can say  / on the debt side, we can argue that (del lado positivo, podemos decir, al contrario, podemos decir)
    • On the one hand.... /on the other hand (de un lado, de otro).
    • Some authors/critics consider this film/series... (algunos autores lo/la consideran...)
    • You can also add some quotes if they are interesting

Why is this project appealing for students and teachers?

First of all, it follows the DUA/UDL principles, as it is based on the students' interests and then focuses on communication strategies even including technological devices for their presentation. Together with this, this project lets us get to know our students' and their interests seeing aspects in common between equals in order to improve their personal relationships.
