MORE TIPS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

 When it comes to speaking in public, we all have our strategies, and depending on the topic we are dealing with, they will eventually change. 
Here, we can have some extra alternatives to make our presentation bright (not only in English)

First and foremost, keep in mind: 

  • YOU ARE NOT READING, your presentation does not require to have too much text unless it is specified. Anyway, don't read it. 
  • USE VISUALS to keep attention. MAKE reference to the visuals: 
    • As this picture clearly shows
    • As you can see int he picture
    • Having a deep look at this picture
    • What can you see in the picture? Does it seem familiar to you?
  • USE YOUR VOICE, YOUR TONE AND ASK QUESTIONS to raise interest
    • Does it ring a bell?
    • Do you think this was easy?
    • What do you think happened next?
    • What is the best/worst of it in your opinion?
    • Did it have any consequences?
  • EYE CONTACT IS PARAMOUNT. Don't forget moving naturally can help you.
  • SURPRISE YOUR AUDIENCE: Music, a picture, some random questioning can do.
    • Can you guess?
    • Did you know....?
  • USE SPECIFIC VOBULARY. Look up all the words you may need.  
  • KEEP YOUR STRUCTURE: (AND USE LINKING WORDS AS SUCH)
    • INTRODUCTION. Raise interest from the very beginning with questions or surprising facts. Pictures can be key at this point. 
      • Have you ever heard about....? Do you know something about....?
      • What comes to your mind when I say.....?
    • BODY: 
      • Connect the ideas depending on the topic. 
      • Order events
      • Organize causes and consequences....
      • Use cross references "As I have already pointed out"
    • CONCLUSION. Summarize your ideas, give an opinion if necessary and end with some striking effect, a quote, a funny idea, some picture than may be food for thought.

  • BE BOLD, BE CREATIVE, DO IT YOUR WAY!!!
